Feedback for the guest speaker

Writer, Director and Actress

In the lectures on both Thursday and Friday, I learned that there are strong link between the Director and the Actors/Actresses. Understanding or to be in the position of the actors/actresses is very important as it helps the director to carry out his role quickly and in an effective way.

The seminar we had with the two guest speaker was really helpful for me. At the beginning, I didn’t like reading out script in front of the group because I wasn’t feeling confident enough at that time. But as we went through, getting comments and feedback from everyone, I felt more confident to share ideas and get feedbacks.
Having a session with the people from outside of the university made me experience or imagine how it would be like to work in the industry.
There is one particular exercise that I really liked, which was to become one of the characters from your story. This exercise tested me whether I know enough about the character. Answering questions from the group also made me realize that I can develop my character even further.

I enjoyed working with the guest speaker, and as I said before, it really make us understand what it would be like to work in the industry.

Ghost in the Shell

Recently I borrowed “Ghost in the Shell-Stand alone complex” 1st and 2nd DVDs from my friend. I’ve already seen the movie but never had a chance to see this series. I’m not going to comment on it yet, as I have just started to watch them and so I decided to just put a short overview of this story along with a trailer that I found on Youtube.

Ghost in the Shell (Kokaku Kidoutai- Mobile Armored Riot Police) is a futuristic police thriller dealing with the exploits of Motoko Kusanagi, a member of the covert operations section of the Japanese National Public Safety Commission, Section 9, which specializes in fighting technology-related crime.

It is originally from a Japanese cyberpunk manga created by Masamune Shirou. Over the years, the manga series has been adapted into the following three anime films:
Ghost in the Shell, Ghost in the Shell2:Innocence, and Ghost in the Shell:Stand Alone Complex Solid State Society. And two tv series: Ghost in the Shell:Stand Alone Complex and Ghost in the Shell:Stand Alone Complex 2nd Gig.

“The Matrix, a 1999 sci-fi action movie, contains imagery strongly influenced by Ghost in the Shell (as well as other anime). For example, the Matrix digital rain (the falling patterns of green text that represent the code of the Matrix) resembles the opening of the first 1995 Ghost in the Shell film. What is the Matrix? This is. Watch this film, you won't believe how much The Matrix stole from this.”

Here is the 2 Japanese Trailers for the new Stand Alone Complex Movie
“This is the film that influenced and inspired The Matrix trilogy”

Bert Animation

I found this piece of animation that I really like and decided to put it here; I’ve been watching this clip over and over, I really love this piece!

This piece is from Aniboom (www.aniboom.com). Aniboom teams up with a community of animators and animation fans around the world to create the best independent cartoons and animation films for multi-platform distribution.

Since my 3-5 mins animation is also to do with vegetable, I found this really interesting. I particularly liked the characterization and face expression of this piece. I also liked the storyline; sad and loneliness is been expressed really well at the beginning of this animation and as well as the happiness at the end of this story.
This doesn’t have any spoken words and only expresses the atmosphere and character’s emotion through just the sound effects, which I really found it interesting.
